Jul 21, 2026
Forty years is more than a milestone. It is a testament to resilience, vision, and the enduring impact of purpose-driven leadership.
This year, STARZS Investments Company Limited marked its 40th anniversary with a week-long celebration that reflected not only on its remarkable journey but also on the people, communities, and industries it has transformed along the way. Under the theme "Transforming Lives, 40 Years On," the celebration brought together industry leaders, government officials, traditional rulers, partners, clients, employees, and host communities to honour four decades of indigenous enterprise and chart the course for the future.
A Celebration Rooted in Gratitude
The anniversary celebrations began in Port Harcourt with a thanksgiving service, where the company's leadership, employees, family members, and stakeholders gathered to give thanks for four decades of growth, resilience, and divine guidance.

Speaking during the service, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Iroghama Ogbeifun, reflected on the values that have sustained the organisation through changing economic realities and industry challenges. She described STARZS as a faith-based organisation whose success has been built on integrity, resilience, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
The thanksgiving service set the tone for the week's activities, reminding everyone that behind every business milestone is a story of perseverance, sacrifice, and purpose.
Four Decades of Building Indigenous Capacity
Founded in 1986 by Engr. Greg Ogbeifun, STARZS Investments Company Limited has grown into one of Nigeria's leading indigenous maritime and offshore support companies.

Over the past four decades, the organisation has played a significant role in strengthening Nigeria's maritime sector through local content development, offshore logistics, marine transportation, and strategic investments in indigenous capacity. Its growth has demonstrated that Nigerian-owned businesses can compete successfully while delivering world-class services across the maritime and energy industries.

As the company celebrated its anniversary, industry stakeholders praised STARZS for consistently raising standards, creating employment opportunities, investing in local talent, and contributing to Nigeria's economic development.
Investing in People Through the "40 for 40" Initiative
One of the defining highlights of the anniversary was the launch of the "40 for 40" Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative, a programme designed to commemorate the company's milestone by creating opportunities for others.
Through the initiative, 40 young people from STARZS' host communities were awarded scholarships and vocational training opportunities in specialised technical fields, including electrical instrumentation, welding and fabrication, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), and maritime education.

The beneficiaries will receive practical skills that can open doors to sustainable careers, reinforcing STARZS' long-standing commitment to empowering communities through education and capacity building.
The company also extended its impact through environmental sustainability initiatives, establishing tree-planting clubs in schools and promoting environmental stewardship among young people. In addition, the leadership called for stronger collaboration to improve educational infrastructure, recognising education as a vital driver of national development.
These initiatives reflect a philosophy that has guided STARZS throughout its history—that business success is most meaningful when it creates opportunities for people and leaves communities stronger than they were found.

Driving Conversations That Shape the Industry
As part of the anniversary celebrations, STARZS hosted a maritime symposium that convened key stakeholders from across the public and private sectors to examine the future of Nigeria's maritime industry.
The symposium provided a platform for robust discussions around the Blue Economy, indigenous participation, maritime infrastructure, local content, financing, innovation, and strategies for strengthening Nigeria's competitiveness within the global maritime ecosystem.
By bringing together policymakers, regulators, industry experts, and business leaders, STARZS demonstrated that its commitment extends beyond business operations to influencing conversations that will shape the future of the industry for generations to come.
The event reinforced the company's role not only as a leading maritime operator but also as a thought leader committed to advancing sustainable industry growth.
Honouring a Shared Journey
The week-long celebrations concluded with a grand gala night that celebrated the people whose dedication, partnership, and support have made STARZS' success possible.
Employees, clients, partners, industry leaders, government representatives, and friends of the organisation gathered to reflect on four decades of achievements while looking ahead to the next chapter of growth.

The evening celebrated not only business accomplishments but also the relationships, trust, and shared vision that have defined STARZS' journey over the last 40 years.
Throughout the anniversary, tributes poured in from across Nigeria's maritime community, with many describing STARZS as a model of indigenous excellence, visionary leadership, and sustainable business growth.
The Future
While the anniversary celebrated an impressive legacy, the message throughout the week remained firmly focused on the future.
Under the leadership of Mrs. Iroghama Ogbeifun, STARZS continues to build on the strong foundation established by its founder, Engr. Greg Ogbeifun, positioning the organisation for continued innovation, sustainability, and industry leadership.

As the company embarks on its next chapter, its vision remains clear: to continue transforming lives, strengthening indigenous enterprise, investing in people, and contributing meaningfully to Nigeria's maritime and economic development.
Forty years on, STARZS Investments Company Limited stands as a powerful reminder that enduring organisations are built not only through commercial success but through purpose, resilience, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to creating lasting impact.
We congratulate Engr. Greg Ogbeifun, Mrs. Iroghama Ogbeifun, and the entire STARZS Investments Company Limited on this remarkable milestone and wish them continued success as they navigate the next 40 years of excellence, innovation, and nation building.
